Research progress on application of stem cells in treatment of acute myocardial infarction

Abstract：Acute myocardial infarction is a sudden reduction or interruption of blood supply to the heart due to a variety of obstructive or non-obstructive coronary causes,resulting in severe and persistent ischemia of the corresponding myocardia,ultimately leading to myocardial cell necrosis.Stem cells are used in the study on myocardial regeneration after myocardial infarction due to their multi-directional differentiation and self-renewal characteristics.In this paper,the research progress on application of stem cells in treatment of acute myocardial infarction is reviewed.
