Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of different lipid-decreasing intensities on poststroke nerve function defect, blood lipid level and intima-media thickness of carotid artery. Methods 68 patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into the research group(n = 34) and the control group(n = 34). The research group was treated with atorvastatin calcium(40 mg,qd) for 3 months. The control group received calcium atorvastatin (20 mg,qd) for 3 months. NIHSS scores and the data of serum lipid level were collected before and after treatment. Intima-media thickness of carotid artery was detected by TCD method. Results There were no significant differences in NIHSS scores between the research group and the control group before and 3 months after treatment. After treatment, TC,LDL-C and the intima-media thickness of carotid artery in the research group were significantly lower than those in the control group. However, there were no significant differences in TG and HDL-C between the two groups. Conclusion Large dose of atorvastatin (40 mg) can decrease TC and LDL-C,stabilize internal carotid artery plaque, and reduce intima-media thickness of carotid artery on a larger scale than small dose of atorvastatin(20 mg).
