Abstract:Objective To investigate the MRI manifestions of the calvaria solitary plasmacytoma of bone ( SPB) and to improve the diagnosis of SPB.Methods The MRI data of 5 cases proved by operation and pathology were retrospectively analyzed. Results Single lesion was found in 5 cases T1WI with in 3 cases as equisignal, and in 2 cases as mixed signal, with T2WI in 5 cases as high signal mixed signals. All signals were even, dense and exqui-site.The tumors were larger than 5 cm in diameter with clear edge, and were located in the skull and outside the plate which formed the convex shape of soft tissue mass. The inside and outside plates without hyperplasia and sclero-sis were found within the surrounding bones. All cases showed obvious enhancement with an enhanced scan.Conclu-sion MRI manifestations of cranium have some characteristics on SPB, which can help to improve the diagnosis of the disease.
