Efficacy of high-dose vitamin C combination with dexamethasone in treatment of oropharyngeal ulcers after radiotherapy
Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effects of high-doses of vitamin C combination with dexam-ethasone in the treatment of oropharyngeal ulcers after radiotherapy. Methods Oropharyngeal ulcer patients(n =62) of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy were randomly divided into the control group(n =31) and the treat-ment group(high-dose vitamin C +dexamethasone)(n =31).The control group was treated with conventional medi-cation.The treatment group was treated with vitamin C 3 000 mg by intravenous injection(10 mg/d) +dexamethasone 10 mg in 0.9%Nacl 250 ml by intravenous drip on the basis of the same treatment in the control group, 1 time per day, 7 days for a period of treatment. Results The effective rate was 96.77% and 61.29% in the treatment group and the control group respectively. There was significant difference in curative effect between the two groups(P <0.05).Conclusion Highdose of vitamin C combination with dexamethasone is effective in the treatment of oropha-ryngeal ulceration after radiotherapy.
