Prevertebral fascia suture in the prevention of pharyngeal discomforts after anterior cervical decompression and fusion with internal plate fixation
Abstract:Objective To study the necessity of prevertebral fascia suture in the prevention of pharyngeal discomforts after prevertebral fascia suture in anterior cervical surgery .Methods 62 patients were collected from July 2012 to June 2014, and randomly divided into the experiment group (n=31) and the control group(n=31).The pa-tients in the experiment group accepted prevertebral fascia suture in the surgery , while the control group did not re-ceive the same procedure .After the surgery , pharyngeal discomforts and the duration of the patients in both groups were compared statistically .Results There was no sighificant difference in the improvement rate of JOA between the two groups after the surgery ( P>0.05 ) .The duration of pharyngeal discomfort in the experiment group was shorter than that in the control group ( P<0.01 ) .Conclusion The suture of prevertebral fascia is effective in preventing pharyngeal discomforts after anterior cervical surgery .
