The short and medium term efficacy and safety of symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis stenting
Abstract:Objective To explore the short and medium term efficacy and safety of symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis stenting .Methods 64 patients with symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis were treated with medi-cation(medication group, n=38) or intracranial arterial stenting(stent group, n=26).NIHSS(US National Stroke Scale) scores and ADL(activities of daily living) scores were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. The rates of clinical events ( including cerebral hemorrhage , cerebral infarction and death ) were also as-sessed and compared between the two groups with a follow-up of three months after the treatment .Results NIHSS scores and ADL scores were significantly higher in the stent group than those in the medication group ( P<0.05 ) . There is no significant difference in the rates of clinical events between the two groups ( P>0.05 ) .Conclusion Symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis stenting is more safe and effective than medication for the treatment of symp -tomatic intracranial arterys tenting .
