Abstract:Objective To explroe the clinical value of low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimula-tion in improving obstinate auditory hallucinations and cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. Methods According to visit order number 100 patients with schizophrenia were divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with risperidone. The observation group was treated by risperidone combined with low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. Before and after treatment, the patients were evaluated, by auditory hallucinationsrating scale( AHRS) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale ( TESS) and assessment of verbal fluency and trail making were performal in patients. Results After 8 weeks of treatment, the AHRS scores in the observation group were lower than that in the control group, with statistical signifi-cance between two groups(P<0.05); The observation group′s verbal fluency obviously improved than before treat-ment(P<0.05), the control group′s verbal fluency did not show no significant improvement(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in trail making between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion Low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation can effectively improve obstinate auditory hallucinations in elderly patients with schizophrenia, and has certain effect in improving their cognitive function, and is worthy of clini-cal reference and promotion.
