Comparison of effects of compound apocynum tablets and captopril on left ventricular hypertrophy and dias- tolic function in elderly hypertension patients

Abstract：Objective To observe the effects of compound apocynum tablets on left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic function in elderly hypertension patients .Methods In the treatment group , 40 elderly hypertension pa-tients were treated with compound apocynum tablets .In the control group , 42 patients were treated with captopril .Six months after treatment ,echocardiography was used for comparing the improved situation in left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic function .Results After treatment , blood pressure decreased significantly , left ventricular hypertrophy reversed and diastolic function improved in different degrees the patients of two groups .Conclusion Compound apoc-ynum is an effective and inexpensive antihypertensive drug and has effect in different degree on left ventricular hyper -trophy and diastolic function .
