The effect of simvastatin on soft plaque of carotid atherosclerosis
Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of simvastatin on the soft plaque of carotid atherosclerosis.Methods Three hundred patients with carotid atherosclerosis were randomly divided into two groups and each group had 150 patients, respectively. The control group treated by clopidogrel(75mg qd) and the treatment group added simvastatin (20mg qn) besides clopidogrel. All patients rechecked by color doppler ultrasonography after 6 months'of treatment, then the variation of the carotid atherosclerosis in two group were compared.Results The soft plaque of carotid atherosclerosis in the treatment group had more incidence of extinction, decreasing or stabilization of soft plaque than control group.Conclusion Simvastatin can reverse and stabilize the belt plaque of carotid atherosclerosis.
