Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)fumigation combined with acupoint massage based on Zhuang medicine meridian-tendon theory on spasm degree, limb motor function and activities of daily living(ADL)in patients with post-stroke hemiplegic spasm. Methods A total of 100 patients with post-stroke limb spasticity and admitted to Cenxi People's Hospital between July 2023 and April 2025 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each of 50.Both groups received conventional acupuncture, while the observation group was additionally provided with herbal fumigation and acupoint massage guided by the Zhuang medicine meridian-tendon theory. The modified Ashworth scale,Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA),and modified Barthel index(MBI)scores were compared between the two groups before,as well as after 2-and 4-week treatment. Results After 4-week treatment, the spasm in the observation group was relieved significantly compared to the control group(Z=—2.508,P=0.012).Moreover,significant differences were found in the FMA and MBI scores between the two groups concerning intergroup, time, and interaction effects(Ftime=265.342,P<0.001;Fgroups=58.923,P<0.001;Finteraction=18.474,P<0.001;Ftime=301.764,P<0.001;Fgroups=62.183,P<0.001;Finteraction=15.832,P<0.001).Conclusion The combined therapy in this study can alleviate post-stroke limb spasticity, and improve motor function and ADL in patients, demonstrating promising clinical application prospects.
