Qualitative study on the experience of pediatric nurses participating in the development of children's health science popularization works

Abstract:Objective To explore the real experience of pediatric nurses in the development of children's health science popularization works,aiming to provide basis for optimizing pediatric health science popularization work and enhancing the science popularization ability of nurses.Methods Between January and May 2025,26 pediatric nurses working in Tongji Hospital,Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology were selected as the research subjects and given a semi-structured interview.The interview data were analyzed using the Colaizzi's seven-step analysis method,and the themes were refined and summarized.Results Three themes and ten sub-themes were extracted:participation experience(role advantages of pediatric nurses,frustration and stress,and sense of professional benefits),creative dilemmas(difficulty in child adaptation,shortage of knowledge and skill innovation,resources and cost limitations,ethical and privacy protection risks),and support and needs(training needs,material and collaboration support,institutional guarantees and incentive mechanisms).Conclusion Pediatric nurses play an indispensable role in health science popularization work.However,their participation and the exertion of their professional advantages require breaking through in technical limitations and establishing institutional guarantees.Medical institutions should achieve nursing and health science popularization through institutional empowerment and technical training.
