Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of applying goal attainment theory-based swallowing and ingestion management in dysphagia patients after oral cancer surgery. Methods Totally 120 dysphagia patients after their oral cancer surgery in Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between June 2021 and June 2024,were selected and divided into a routine group and an observation group, each of 60,according to a random number table. Both groups received routine nursing, while the observation group was additionally provided with goal attainment theory-based swallowing and ingestion management. Then both groups were evaluated swallowing function and life quality using the Mann assessment of swallowing ability-oral cancer(MASA-OC),and the swallowing quality of life(SWAL-QOL).Meanwhile,the levels of serum total protein(TP),hemoglobin(Hb)and albumin(ALB)were compared between the two groups. Results After one-month intervention, the MASA-OC and SWAL-QOL scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the routine group(t=-4.856,P<0.001;t=-4.781,P<0.001).Moreover,the levels of TP,Hb and ALB in the observation group were significantly higher than the latter(t=-5.237,P<0.001;t=-4.825,P<0.001;t=-5.425,P<0.001).Conclusion Goal attainment theory-based swallowing and ingestion management can relieve dysphagia of patients with dysphagia after oral cancer surgery, better their nutritional status, promote their life quality.
