Sinicization of the delirium detection questionnaire and its validity and reliability test

Abstract:Objective To Chinesize the delirium detection questionnaire(DDQ)and test its validaty and reliability among elderly inpatients.Methods The scale was translated and back-translated according to the Brislin translation model,and culturally adjusted through expert consultation and pre-survey.By using the convenience sampling method,A total of 260 elderly patients were selected from the department of geriatrics of Henan provincial people's hospital.Then,they were surveyed using the scale to test its reliability and validity.Results The content validity at the item of the Chinese version DDQ and the content validity of the questionnaire were both 1.000,Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders(DSM-5)was taken as the gold standard for diagnosing delirium,the criterion-related and convergent validity of them were 0.780 and 0.867.Moreover,the sensitivity and specificity were 81.25%and 95.00%,while the positive predictive value was 87.84%,with the area under the ROC curve being 0.881.Meanwhile,the total Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.876.Conclusion The Chinese version of the delirium detection questionnaire for caregivers has good reliability and validity,and is suitable for caregivers and nurses who have not received psychiatric training to conduct delirium screening for inpatient elderly patients in the context of Chinese culture.
