The current situation of long-term care needs of the disabled elderly in the community and its influencing factors

Abstract:Objective To explore the status quo of long-term care needs of the disabled elderly in the community,and its influencing factors.Methods Between September 2024 and February 2025,a total of 223 disabled elderly people were selected from 3 communities in Qiqihar city as research objects by convenience sampling method.They were surveyed using a general data questionnaire,Barthel index,the social support rating scale,self-perceived burden scale and long-term care needs questionnaire.Results The score of needs for long-term care of the disabled elderly in community was(94.48±8.49)points.The multiple linear regression results showed that age,number of chronic diseases,Barthel index,self-perceived burden and social support were independent influencing factors for long-term care demand of the research objects(R2=0.661,adjusted R2=0.636,F=26.882,P<0.001).Conclusion The demand for long-term care of the disabled elderly people in the community is of a medium level.Community workers should attach special importance to the disabled elderly people with multiple chronic diseases,or in a state of moderate to severe dependence,or of a heavy self-perceived burden or a low level of social support.
