The application effect of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and sitz bath combined with ear acupuncture on wound swelling and pain after anorectal surgery

Abstract：Objective To explore the application effect of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and sitz bath combined with ear acupuncture on wound swelling and pain after anorectal surgery.Methods Eighty patients undergoing anorectal surgery at Yancheng hospital of traditional Chinese medicine between March 2023 and March 2024 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group,each of 40,according to a random number table.Both groups received traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and sitz bath,while the observation group was additionally provided with ear acupuncture.The pain and edema scores,pain mediators,and anal function were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the prostaglandin E2,visual analogue score and edema score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(t=31.337,P＜0.001;t=18.386,P＜0.001;t=20.433,P＜0.001),while the β-endorphin level,anal resting pressure,anal maximal systolic blood pressure,and rectal resting blood pressure were higher than those in the control group(t=—17.283,P＜0.001;t=-24.586,P＜0.001;t=-26.273,P＜0.001;t=—19.527,P＜0.001).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and sitz bath combined with ear acupuncture treatment can reduce the levels of pain mediators,alleviate pain and edema,and promote anal function recovery in patients undergoing anorectal surgery.
