Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of music intervention based on the PERMA model on insomnia in end-of-life cancer patients. Methods Seventy-four end-of-life cancer patients admitted to the palliative care ward of Hunan provinical hospital of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine from May 2024 to July 2024 were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each of 37.Both groups were given routine specialized palliative care and sleep education, while the observation group was additionally provided with music intervention based on the PERMA model. Before and after one-week intervention, both groups were evaluated using the insomnia severity index(ISI),hospital anxiety and depression scale(HADS),while actigraphy was used for effect evaluation. Results One week after the intervention, the ISI,anxiety and depression scores, sleep onset latency, wake time after sleep onset, and awakening times in the observation group were all significantly lower than those of the control group(Z=-7.129,P<0.001;t=4.972,P<0.001;t=6.042,P<0.001;Z=-5.155,P<0.001;Z=-3.347,P=0.001;Z=-6.897,P<0.001).While the sleep efficiency and total sleep time were all significantly better than the latter(Z=-4.924,P<0.001;Z=-6.291,P<0.001).Conclusion Music intervention based on the PERMA model can alleviate insomnia, anxiety and depression in end-of-life cancer patients.
