The influence of decision aid on treatment decisions in patients with osteoarthritis:a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective To evaluate systematically the effect of decision assistance on treatment decisions in patients with osteoarthritis.Methods Studies on treatment decision-making assistance for osteoarthritis patients were searched in the Cochrane Library,Web of Science,PubMed,Chinese National Knowledge Internet,VIP and Wanfang,with the time setting from the inception of the database till March 1,2024.All literature was carefully reviewed based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria,followed by data extraction and quality assessment.Moreover,the Meta-analysis was carried out using RevMan 5.3 software.Results Eleven studies involving 1 860 patients were selected.Meta-analysis revealed that decision aid can enhance decision knowledge[MD=15.17,95％CI(5.65,24.69),P＜0.01;RR=1.40,95％CI(1.24,1.59),P＜0.01].Furthermore,the decision readiness of these individuals was bettered[MD=0.27,95％CI(0.06,0.48),P=0.01].Conclusion It is found that decision aid can effectively improve the level of decision knowledge,decision readiness their willingness to operate in patients with osteoarthritis,improving the quality of their decision-making.
