Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of applying body surface gastrointestinal pacing combined with umbilical therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)on preventing complications of enteral nutritional support among critically ill patients,so as to provide a basis for optimizing the clinical nursing program of enteral nutritional support. Methods Totally 100 patients hospitalized in the department of critical care medicine of Jinhu county people's hospital between July 2023 and May 2024 were selected, and divided into a control group and an observation group, each of 50,according to a random number table. The control group was promoted gastrointestinal dynamics by injecting erythromycin, while the observation group was given body surface gastrointestinal pacing combined with umbilical therapy of TCM.The differences in the incidence of high-level gastric residual volume(GRV),reflux, vomiting, flatulence and diarrhoea,as well as the achievement rate of early enteral nutrition target energy and protein level were compared between the two groups. Results The achievement rate of early enteral nutrition target energy in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(x2=4.883,P=0.027).There were statistically significant differences in serum total protein, prealbumin, and albumin levels in time, between groups and in interaction between the two groups(all P<0.05).However,there were no significant difference groups, and interaction effects in the incidence of high-level GRV,reflux, vomiting, flatulence and diarrhoea(x2=0.071,P=0.790;x2=0.088,P=0.766;x2=0.102,P=0.749;x2=0.332,P=0.564;x2<0.001,P=1.000).Conclusion Body surface gastrointestinal pacing combined with umbilical therapy of traditional Chinese medicine can replace erythromycin injection to promote gastrointestinal dynamics in patients with enteral nutrition support in ICU,lower the incidence of common complications of enteral nutrition support and improve the achievement rate of early enteral nutrition target energy and protein level, bettering their nutritional condition.
