Qualitative study on influencing factors of inhaled medication compliance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:Objective To analyze the factors influencing inhalation medication compliance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Twenty COPD patients admitted to respiratory department of Yancheng first people's hospital between April and August 2023 were selected using the purposive sampling.They were given a semi-structured interview,and the data were extracted and summarized themes using the content analysis.Results A total of 5 themes were extracted,which were insufficient disease cognition,poor perception of drug benefit,influence of self-efficacy and drug belief,heavy economic burden,and insufficient external support system.Conclusion Medication compliance of COPD patients is influenced by multiple factors.Medical staff should pay attention to patients'individual conditions and feelings of drug use,improve relevant supporting systems to better their compliance with accurate management.
