Abstract:Objective To assess the effects of progressive muscle relaxation training on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods The randomized controlled trials on progressive muscle relaxation training for patients with COPD were searched from Pub Med,Web of Science,Embase,Cochrane Library,CNKI,VIP Database, and Wanfang Data. The risk of bias assessment of randomised controlled trials were performed according to the Cochrane manual, and Meta-analysis of included studies was performed using Stata 16 software. Results Six studies involving 463 patients diagnosed with COPD were included.Progressive muscle relaxation training significantly reduced fatigue in COPD patients[SMD=-1.704,95%CI(-1.929,-1.479)],improved sleep quality[SMD=-1.643,95%CI(-2.787,-0.498)],and alleviated breathlessness[SMD=-1.375,95%CI(-2.061,-0.690)].However,it did not have a significant impact on patients anxiety[SMD=-0.873,95%CI(-2.040,0.295)].Conclusion Progressive muscle relaxation training demonstrates potential in ameliorating fatigue, breathlessness, and enhancing sleep quality among COPD patients.
