Qualitative research on the role expectation of primary nursing managers to medical care workers

Abstract:Objective To explore the role expectations of primary nursing managers for medical care workers in order to improve the nursing quality and patient satisfaction.Methods The phenomenological research method of qualitative research was adopted to conduct semi-structural interviews with 10 primary nursing managers from a grade A tertiary hospital in Guangzhou.Then the Colaizzi analysis method was used to analyze the data.Results The role expectations of nursing managers for medical nurses can be summarized into four themes:expectation of professional norms,expectation of professional skills,expectation of professional knowledge and expectation of professional accomplishment.Conclusion The role orientation of medical nurses should be based on standardized practice as the premise and professional care as the core.It is urgent to build a complete training and management system.
