Abstract:Objective To study the effect of creative origami training on cognitive function in elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods A total of 76 MCI patients who visited the geriatric department between March 2022 and April 2023 were selected as research object. They were divided into an experimental group(n=40)and a control group(n=36),according to random number table method. The control group received routine treatment and care including cognitive impairment, including medication treatment, health education, and regular follow-up.The experimental group received an 8-week creative origami training at the base of the control group. The montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA),clock drawing test(CDT),Alzheimer's disease cooperative study-activities of daily living inventory(ADCS-ADL)and geriatric depression scale(GDS)were employed to assess the cognitive function, activities of daily living, and emotional state of the two groups. Results After the 8-week intervention, the scores of MoCA,CDT,ADCS-ADL of the experimental group were higer than that of the control group(t=-2.592,P=0.011;t=-2.014,P=0.048;t=-2.517,P=0.014),and the GDS score of the experimental group was significantly lower than the latter(t=2.235,P=0.030).Conclusion Creative origami training can improve cognitive function, emotional state and quality of life of patients with mild cognitive impairment.
