Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of applying the multidisciplinary cooperative management model in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods Totally 108 pregnant women diagnosed as GDM in 2016 were selected into the control group, while another 94 counterparts diagnosed in 2017 were chosen into the intervention group. The control group received routine treatment and nursing, while the intervention group accepted the intervention based on the multi-disciplinary cooperative management model. The pregnancy outcome was compared between the two groups. Results The insulin utilization rate, fasting serum glucose and 2 hours postprandial serum glucose of the intervention group were significantly better than that of the control group (χ2=4.739, P=0.029; t=-5.124, P<0.001; t=-3.190, P=0.001). There was no significant difference in the gestational week at delivery, body weight increase during pregnancy, neonatal Apgar score and incidence of neonatal jaundice between the two groups. Moreover, the incidence of macrosomias and hypoglycemia of newborns of the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group (χ2=3.940, P=0.047;χ2=3.949, P=0.047). Conclusion The multi-disciplinary cooperative management model can effectively reduce the insulin use rate, blood glucose level and the incidence of macrosomias and hypoglycemia of newborns. It plays an important role in the management of GDM patients.
