Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of the low glycaemic index(GI)/low glycamic load (GL)dietary regimens on the blood glucose of diabetic patients. Methods Randomized controlled trials about the effect of low GI/GL diet on the blood glucose of diabetic patients were searched in the databases including the China National Knowledge Internet,Weipu and Wanfang with restrictions to the publication date before January 2017,and language restriction only in Chinese. Two authors screened the literature independently according to the same criteria, and collected data according to the experimental design, characteristics of objects, intervention measures and results, taking such parameters as the glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),fasting serum glucose(FBG)and 2hours postprandial serum glucose(2hPG)into account.Data analysis was performed using the Review Manager 5.3software.Results Twelve clinical randomized controlled trials enrolling 1 413type 2diabetes mellitus patients met the inclusion criteria. Compared to diets providing a high GI/GL load, low GI/GL protocols resulted in significantly more decrease in HbA1c[WMD=-0.42%,95% CI(-0.58,-0.27)],FBG[WMD=-0.72mmol/L,95% CI(-0.89,-0.55)]and 2hPG[WMD=-1.61mmol/L,95% CI(-2.33,-0.89)].Conclusion The study provides evidences of a beneficial effect of a low GI/GL diets on the glycaemic control in people with type 2diabetes.
