The influence of language intervention on the stress response of cesarean women with the background music

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of language intervention with background music on the stress response of women giving cesarean delivery.Methods One hundred puerperas to receive the cesarean section were divided into an experimental group (n=50) and a control group (n=50) according to odd and even of operation number.The women of the experimental group started to listen to the music for 2 minutes after entering the operating room, followed by 10 minutes of background music and verbal guidance, then infants′ photos showing with background music, at last, 25 minutes of background muisc.Those in the control group received routine care after entering the operating room.The anxiety, pain, heart rate and blood pressure were observed before and after the intervention.Results After the intervention, the scores of all measurements in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group.Conclusion The language intervention with the background music helps to reduce the pain and anxiety and has a positive impact on the stability of blood pressure and heart rate of women undergoing the cesarean section.
