The effect of hot compress with raw scallion combined with acupressure on urinary retention after laparoscopic surgery

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of hot compress with raw scallion combined with acupressure on the urinary retention after laparoscopic surgery.Methods Totally 150 patients suffering from dysuria or urinary retention were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, each of 75.The control group was induced urination using the traditional nursing, while the experimental group was given hot compress using raw scallion combined with acupressure.The two groups were compared their dysuria symptoms and urination after the intervention.ResultsThe dysuria symptoms were significantly relieved in the experimental group compared to the control group (χ2=12.354,P<0.001).Significantly more patients were observed to urinate successfully compared to the control group (χ2=13.053, P<0.001).Conclusion The hot compress on bladder with raw scallion and acupressure is effective in treating the urinary retention.It can reduce the probability of placing a urinary catheter and relieve patients′ pain.
