Effects of quality nursing on reducing venous indwelling needles-related complications among children

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of quality nursing on reducing venous indwelling needles-related complications among children. Methods Totally 160 pediatric patients receiving intravenous infusion with venous indwelling needles between May and Octorber 2014 were selected into a control group and given routine nursing.Another 160 counterparts receiving the same treatment between November 2014 and April 2015 were chosen as the observation group to be provided with quality nursing in additon to routine nursing care.The complications caused by venous indwelling needles and parents′satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results Significantly less complications were observed in the observation group than the control group(χ2 =9.416,P=0.002).However,the satisfaciton of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(Z=-3.186, P=0.001).Conclusion Quality nursing can significantly lower the incidenc e of complications caused by venous indwelling needles among children and promote the satisfaciton of their parents.
