Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of continuity nursing on the patients with malnutrition after stroke. Methods Sixty stroke survivors with malnutrition between August 2013 and June 2015 were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, each of 30.The control group was given conventional nursing intervention, while the experimental group was provided with continuity nursing. Both groups were evaluated using the mini nutritional assessment. Results After the intervention, increase was observed in the level of the triglyceride, albumin, hemoglobin and arm muscle circumference for both groups, which in the experiment group was higher that those in the control group.Three and 6 months after the intervention, the nutritional condition of the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group. Conclusion Various factors can lead to malnutrition after stroke.Continuity nursing can effectively prevent the deterioration of the nutritional status of stroke survivors, and even improve their nutritional status.
