Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of activities of quality control circle on the oral care of critically ill patients with artificial airways. Methods A total of 228 critically ill patients with artificial airways were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group(n=116)and a control group(n=112).Both groups were given conventional oral nursing, while activities of quality control circle were additionally introduced into the experimental group. The nursing effect was compared between the two groups. Results The oral nursing pass rate of the experimental group was was 98.00%,significantly higher than that of the control group(87.01%).The incidence of the ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP )and mortality of the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the nursing satisfaction rate of the former was significantly higher than the latter (χ2=8.294,P=0.004). Artificial airway indwelling time and mechanical ventilation time of the experimental group were significantly shorter than those in the control group (t=12.921,P<0.001;t=11.192,P<0.001).Conclusion The quality control circle nursing can significantly improve oral nursing quality and lower the risk of VAP occurrence for critically ill patients.
