Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of systematic health management on the mental health status of community empty nesters.Methods Totally 240 empty nesters were selected and randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group,each of 120.Both groups were given conventional community health management,while the intervention group was additionally provided with systematic health management.Both groups were evaluated using the short form-3 6 health survey (SF-36),social support rating scale (SSRS)and self-report symptom inventory scale (SCL-90)after the intervention.Results After the intervention of 4 months,the total SF-36 score and that of its various dimensions, as well as that of SSRS of the intervention group were significantly higher than those of the control group.The items of positive results,the scores of postive items and the total SCL-90 score of the former were significantly lower than the latter. Conclusion The systematic health management can promote the mental health and quality of life for empty nesters in community.
