Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of preoperative oxygen inhalation therapy on the duration of postoperative ventilator support in tetralogy of fallot (TOF)infants. Methods Totally 78 TOF infants from our department were recruited and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, each of 3 9 .The experimental group received the oxygen inhalation therapy before the operation, while the control group received the operation directly with the same other preoperative preparation. The PaO2 and SaO2 before and after the oxygen therapy, and the postoperative duration of the ventilator support were recorded. Results Compared with the control group, the PaO2 and SaO2 were significantly higher after oxygen inhalation(t=4.44,P=0.00;t=10.27,P=0.00)and the duration for ventilator support was significantly reduced in experiment group(t=2.21,P=0.04).Conclusions The preoperative oxygen inhalation therapy can reduce the postoperative duration of the ventilator support in TOF infants, which can reduce postoperative complications and increase the success rate of the operation.
