Abstract:Objective To study the effects of nursing interventing to primipara family on preventing postpartum depression. Methods A total of 1 142 primiparas receiving antenatal care and giving delivery in our hospital were randomly divided into a control group (n = 571 )and an observation group (n =571 ).The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given nursing intervention to family members in the late pregnancy, during hospitalization and after the delivery. Both groups were evaluated using the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS),social support rating scale (SSRS)and Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale (PSQI ). Results Thirty days after the delivery, the incidence of postpartum depression of the observation group was 8.23%,significantly lower than 25.22% of the control group(χ2 =59.1 56,P =0.000). The EPDS and PSQI scores of the observation group were 8.08±2.1 7 and 5.06±1.84,significantly lower than the control group,12.82±3.64 and 9.38±3.1 6 respectively(t =2.966,P =0.003,t =1.745,P =0.002 ). However, the SSRS score of the observation group was 46.38 ± 4.62, significanlty higher than that of the control group,40.1 7±6.53(t =3.1 65,P =0.004).Conclusion Nursing interventing to primiparas'family can significantly increase patients′ support from family, prevent postpartum depression and improve their sleeping quality.
