The effect of BackSmart system on occupation-related lumbago and back pain among nursing staff

Abstract：Objective To explore the application effect of BackSmart system on occupation-related lumbago and back pain among nursing staff .Methods Eighty nurses suffering from lumbago and back pain were randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group ,each of 40 .The control group was received lecture about body mechanics for 30 min ,while the intervention group was given nursing intervention using BackSmart system for 6 months .The occurrence and duration of lumbago and back pain were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment . Results After the treatment , the times of back pain occurrence were significantly less in the intervention group than that in the control group ,while the duration of the former was significantly shorter than the latter . Conclusions Nursing intervention using BackSmart system can reduce the occurrence of lumbago and back pain among nursing staff ,improving their health and guaranteeing their working efficiency and nursing quality .
