The effect of family-centered extended care regimen on the prognosis of patients with schizophrenia and physical symptoms of caregivers

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of family-centered extended care regimen on the prognosis of patients with schizophrenia and physical symptoms of caregivers .Methods Eighty-six schizophrenia patients admitted to our hospital from August 2012 to March 2015 were randomly divided into a research group and a control group ,each of 43 cases .Both groups were given routine nursing ,while the research group was additionally provided with the family-centered extended nursing .Before and 3 months after the intervention ,both groups were evaluated using the symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) ,brief psychiatric rating quantity scale (BPRS) and social disability screening scale (SDSS) ,and the treatment compliance of the two groups was compared .Results After the intervention ,the scores of all dimensions of SCL-90 ,BPRS and SDSS of the research group were significantly lower than that of the control group ,while the treatment compliance of the former was significantly higher than that of the control group .Conclusion The family-centered extended nursing can help to relieve the condition of schizophrenia patients , improve their prognosis and somatic symptoms of their caregivers .
