Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of individualized extended nursing on reducing radiation-induced difficulty in opening mouth in patients with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC). Methods Totally 72 NPC patients receiving radiation therapy were randomly divided into a control group (n =36)and an experimental group (n = 36).Patients in the control group received routine nursing, while those in the experimental group received individualized extended nursing. The incidence of difficulty in opening mouth was measured one year after radiotherapy. Results The incidence of difficulty in opening mouth of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group. Conclusion Individualized extended nursing can promote NPC patients′compliance in radiotherapy and decrease the incidence of difficulty in opening mouth.
