Appl ication of perineal assessment tool in the nursing care of incontinence patients

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of applying the perineal assessment tool in incontinence patients.Methods Totally 454 incontinence patients were randomly chosen and divided into an observation group and a control group.The former group was assessed using the perineal assessment tool to screen the patients at risk followed by targeted nursing,while the latter group was given traditional nursing care without risk assessment.The occurrence of incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD)was compared between the two groups.Results The occurrence of IAD of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group.Conclusion Nursing incontinence patients according to their IAD risk can effectively lower the occurrence of IAD.
