Effects of hol istic extension nursing services on medication compl iance of elderly patients with coronary heart diseases after the percutaneous coronary intervention

Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of extension nursing services on medication compliance of elderly patients with coronary heart disease after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods Total 1 78 elderly patients with coronary heart diseases were divided into a control group of 88 cases and an observation group of 90 cases randomly.Both groups received general health education during hospitalization,while the observation group was given holistic extension nursing services additionally after discharge.Twelve months after their discharge,the two groups were compared in terms of their medication compliance,occurrence of cardiovascular adverse events, restenosis and readmission rate.Results Twelve months after discharge,the average score of the medication compliance in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group,while the average rates of cardiovascular adverse events,readmission and restenosis were significantly lower than those of the control group.Conclusion The holistic extension nursing services to elderly patients with coronary heart disease safter PCI can effectively improve their medication compliance.
