Abstract:Objective To compare the effects of the continuous double heating and humidification and artificial nose humidification on the airway in tracheotomy patients with non-mechanical ventilation. Methods Sixty tracheotomy patients who got severe craniocerebral injury with non-mechanical ventilation therapy were divided into group A (n =30)and group B (n =30).Patients in group A hospitalized from April 2012 to January 2013 were given artificial nose humidification, while patients in group B hospitalized from February 2013 to September 2014 were given continuous double heating and humidification on their airways. The temperature and relative humidity of the operation section,as well as the sputum viscosity of both groups were measured and compared. Results The control of the airway temperature and humidity of Group B were better than that in group A,while the sputum viscosity of the former was lower than that of the latter. Conclusion Double heating airway humidification is an ideal method of airway humidification. Its effect is superior to artificial noses in tracheotomy patients with non-mechanical ventilation.
