Application of clinical pathway nursing in postoperative monitoring of patients with edonasal transsphenoidal surgeries for pituitary adenomas

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of clinical pathway nursing in postoperative monitoring of patients with edonasal transsphenoidal surgeries for pituitary adenomas .Methods From January 2013 to December 2013 ,58 patients with edonasal transsphenoidal surgeries for pituitary adenomas were set as control group ,who were given routine nursing .From January 2014 to December 2014 ,other 58 patients with edonasal transsphenoidal surgeries were set as path group who were given clinical pathway nursing .Effects for postoperative care and patients′satisfaction of 2 groups were compared . Results The time in monitoring room , postoperative hospital stay , hospitalization expenses , the incidence of complications and nursing adverse events in the path group were lower than that in the control group (t= 8 .185 ,P<0 .01 , t= 9 .054 , P< 0 .01 , t=16 .856 ,P<0 .01 ,χ2 =4 .971 ,P<0 .05;χ2 =7 .017 ,P<0 .01) .The satisfaction degree of patients in the path group was higher than that in the control group (χ2 =6 .202 ,P < 0 .0 5 ) .Conclusion Clinical pathway nursing applying in the patients with edonasal transsphenoidal surgeries for pituitary adenomas could promote postoperative recovery ,reduce communication mistake between doctors and patients ,and improve the work efficiency .
