Effects of quality control circle activities to enhance the life quality of patients with low colorectal cancer after Miles operation

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of quality control circle (QCC)activities to enhance the life quality of patients with low colorectal cancer after Miles operation.Methods From January 2011 to June 2014,96 patients in our hospital with low colorectal cancer after Miles operation were divided into control group (n = 42)and observation group (n = 54).The control group was given routine care after discharge,and the observation group was given QCC at the base of the control group.Colostomy complications and quality of life scores(QLQ-CR30)at six months after the intervention of 2 groups were compared.Results The incidence of stoma mucosa shedding and complications in the observation group were lower than that in the control group (χ2=4.673, P<0.05,χ2=14.037,P<0.01).At 6 months after the intervention,function dimension score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group.Scores of fatigue,pain,decreased appetite,constipation in the observation group were lower than that in the control group.Conclusion QCC can effectively reduce complications and enhance the life quality of patients with low colorectal cancer after Miles operation.
