Influence of indwelling length of indwelling needle to the incidence of mechanical phlebitis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effects of indwelling length of superficial vein indwelling needle on mechanical phlebitis .Methods 98 patients with superficial vein catheter were randomly divided into observation group (n=49) and control group (n=49) .The outer tube of the observation group was stayed 0 x.2 cm out of skin after venous indwelling needle puncture . The control group was made outer tube completely into skin .The incidence of mechanical phlebitis of 2 groups was compared . Results The incidence of mechanical phlebitis in the observation group (16 .33% ) was lower than that in the control group (44 .90% ) .Conclusion Outer tube left 0 .2 cm out of skin after venous indwelling needle puncture has high security and better comfort ,it can effectively reduce the incidence of mechanical phlebitis .
