Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of combining Traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods 62 patients(admitted from November 2022 to May 2024)were randomly and evenly divided. The control group received conventional Western medicine treatment, while the observation group received a combination of Traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment. The total IgE levels, nasal eosinophil counts, and subjective efficacy evaluation results were compared between two groups before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, the total IgE levels in both groups were high, both exceeding 100 IU/mL,with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).After treatment, the total IgE levels in both groups decreased, but in the observation group it decreased to below 100 IU/ml,while in the control group it remained above 100 IU/ml,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Before treatment, the nasal eosinophil counts in both groups were high(both exceeding 5%),but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After treatment, the nasal eosinophil counts in both groups decreased, but in the observation group it decreased to below 2%,while in the control group it remained above 2%,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total effective rate by subjective efficacy evaluation in the observation group was as high as 96.77%,which was higher than the 70.97%in the control group, with P<0.05.Conclusion When treating allergic rhinitis,a combination of Traditional Chinese and Western medicine can achieve more significant therapeutic effects compared with Western medicine alone.
