Abstract:Objective To study the effect of recurrent laryngeal nerve monitor on recurrent laryngeal nerve damage and vocal function in thyroid tumor surgery. Methods From March 2023 to February 2024,134 patients undergoing thyroid tumor surgery in Juye County People's Hospital were randomly selected and divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 67 cases per group. The control group received routine surgical treatment for thyroid tumors, while the observation group received additional intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring intervention. The surgical treatment effects of the two groups were compared. Results The intraoperative bleeding volume and nerve search time in the observation group were lower than those in the control group[(13.90±2.15)ml,(11.43±1.08)min vs(16.52±1.83)ml,(12.80±1.12)min,respectively](P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of temporary or permanent damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve between the two groups(P>0.05).The observation group had significantly lower Voice Handicap Index(VHI)score(26.71±5.38 vs 34.87±6.31)and longer maximum phonation time(MTP)[(20.32±3.46)s vs(16.70±2.54)s]compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring devices in thyroid tumor surgery can help doctors quickly locate the recurrent laryngeal nerve, thereby shorten the operation time, reduce intraoperative bleeding and minimize vocal function impairment.
