Abstract:Objective This study was conducted to investigate the effect of artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis by comparing it with traditional treatment methods, and to evaluate the advantages of artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation in terms of operation duration, recovery time, treatment efficiency and postoperative complication rate,so as to provide better treatment plan for patients. Methods In this study, patients with chronic dacryocystitis who received artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation from January 2023 to January 2024 in our hospital were assigned to the experimental group, while those who received traditional treatment were assigned to the control group. The data of operation duration, recovery time, treatment effectiveness and postoperative complication rate of the two groups were collected, analyzed and compared by statistical methods. At the same time, the effect of artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation was further verified by evaluating the quality of life and functional score changes of patients before and after treatment. Results Artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation showed significant advantages in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis. The operation duration and recovery time of the experimental group were significantly shortened, and the treatment effective rate was as high as 95%,far exceeding the 75%of the control group(χ2=6.274,P=0.001).More importantly, the postoperative complication rate of patients in the experimental group was extremely low, only 0%,which brought a safer treatment experience for patients. In addition, the quality of life of patients in the experimental group was significantly improved after treatment, and all functional scores increased compared with the control group[vitality status:(72.80±2.45)vs(60.40±7.36);physiological funtion(75.40±2.50)vs(61.40±8.36);emotional function(72.63±2.41)vs(62.48±6.26);social function(73.40±2.20)vs(63.52±7.36);t=11.024,11.184,10.264,9.234,P=0.004,0.004,0.004,0.004,respectively].Conclusion In summary, artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation shows significant advantages in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis with its characteristics of high efficiency, safety and rapid recovery. This treatment can not only improve the effective rate of treatment, and reduce the incidence of complications, but also significantly improve the quality of life of patients. Therefore, artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation provides a new treatment option for patients with chronic dacryocystitis, which is worthy of widespread promotion and application in clinical practice.
