Clinical intervention of press needle therapy combined with thunder-fire moxibustion for patients with deafness due to blood stasis obstructing the ear

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of press needle therapy combined with thunder-fire moxibustion in the treatment of patients with deafness due to blood stasis obstructing the ear and its effect on hearing threshold levels.Methods A total of 100 patients with deafness due to blood stasis obstructing the ear,who were admitted to the Otolaryngology Department of Dongtai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2023 to March 2024,were selected for a randomized controlled study.The patients were divided into a control group of 50 cases and an observation group of 50 cases by clinical random number table method.All patients were treated with conventional Western medicine(dexamethasone injection+ginkgolide injection+betahistine hydrochloride injection+lidocaine injection+aceglutamide).The control group additionally received thunder-fire moxibustion,while the observation group additionally received press needle therapy combined with thunder-fire moxibustion.After two weeks of treatment,clinical efficacy and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores were evaluated,hearing improvement was assessed using pure-tone hearing threshold tests And the occurrence of adverse events was assessed.Results The total clinical effective rate in the observation group was 90.00%,significantly higher than that in the control group(74.00%)(P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in TCM syndrome scores or pure-tone hearing threshold levels between the two groups(P>0.05).After two weeks of treatment,both groups showed improvement in TCM syndrome scores and hearing threshold levels compared with pre-treatment levels.Furthermore,the observation group demonstrated significantly lower TCM syndrome scores and hearing threshold levels than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For the clinical treatment of deafness due to blood stasis obstructing the ear,the combined therapy of press needle acupunture and thunder-fire moxibustion can effectively improve clinical outcomes,ameliorate TCM syndrome manifestations,promote hearing recovery,and demonstrate a high level of safety.Therefore,its clinical adoption is recommended.
