Abstract:Objective To investigate the incidence and influencing factors of postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV)following endoscopic ear surgery, and to establish evidence-based preventive nursing strategies. Methods In this retrospective cohort study, clinical records of 94 patients undergoing general anesthesia for endoscopic ear procedures at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital(July-November 2024)were analyzed using a convenience sampling method.Collected parameters included demographic profiles, comorbidities, surgical diagnoses, operative time, and perioperative outcomes.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0,with binary logistic regression determining independent predictors. Results The PONV incidence was 26.60%(25/94).Univariate analysis showed significant associations of PONV with low BMI,otitis media diagnosis, vertigo history, and prolonged surgery(≥135 min)(all P<0.05).Regression analysis identified low BMI(OR=0.749,P=0.034),diabetes comorbidity(OR=0.157,P=0.041),and extended surgery duration(OR=1.022,P=0.001)as independent risk factors. Conclusion Our findings suggest that PONV after endoscopic ear surgery is multifactorial, particularly affecting patients with lower BMI,diabetic comorbidity, and prolonged surgical exposure.Implementation of risk-stratified antiemetic protocols and targeted nursing interventions for these subpopulations is recommended. While this study provides preliminary evidence, further multicenter prospective studies with larger cohorts are warranted to validate these associations and refine perioperative management guidelines.
