Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of an integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine intervention strategy in improving sleep quality among patients after laryngectomy. Methods A total of 66 patients with sleep disturbances following laryngectomy, hospitalized in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at a tertiary hospital in Nanjing from January 2024 to November 2024,were selected as the study subjects.Among them,33 patients admitted from January to May 2024 were assigned to the control group, while 33 patients admitted from July to November 2024 were assigned to the experimental group. The control group received conventional postoperative care for laryngeal cancer, whereas the experimental group received an integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine intervention(optimized airway management combined with auricular acupressure and white noise-induced sleep therapy)in addition to the standard care.Total sleep duration, deep sleep duration, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were compared between the two groups on the third and seventh postoperative days.Postoperative nursing satisfaction was also compared. Results After the intervention, the experimental group exhibited significantly longer total sleep duration and deep sleep duration compared with the control group(P<0.05),along with significantly lower PSQI scores(P<0.05).Nursing satisfaction in the experimental group was also significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of an integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine intervention can effectively improve sleep quality and enhance patient satisfaction among post-laryngectomy patients, demonstrating clinical promotion value.
