Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of multimodal composite sound therapy and the Shizui(meridian)acupoint stimulation method in treating primary persistent tinnitus. Methods A total of 90 patients with primary persistent tinnitus who were treated in the outpatient and inpatient departments from January 2023 to July 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into three groups:the multimodal composite sound therapy group(T-MIST),the Shizui acupoint stimulation group, and the combined therapy group(multimodal composite sound therapy[T-MIST]combined with Shizui acupoint stimulation). Each group consisted of 30 cases, all of whom were also provided with counseling therapy. The pre-and post-treatment scores of the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(THI),and Visual Analog Scale(VAS)for subjective tinnitus severity were compared among the three groups. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the scores of THI,VAS,and SAS among the groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the scores of THI and VAS improved in all groups, with the combined therapy group showing greater improvements in THI and VAS scores compared with the other two groups(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed in the SAS score(P>0.05).Conclusion Both multimodal composite sound therapy and the Shizui acupoint stimulation method can improve tinnitus symptoms in patients. The combination of these two therapies provides better therapeutic effects and is a tinnitus rehabilitation model worth promoting in clinical practice.
