Improvement of symptoms of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo treated by otolith resetting combined with acupuncture

Abstract:Objective To discuss the improvement effect of otolith reduction combined with acupuncture on benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.Methods A total of 120 patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo were enrolled in the prospective trial mainly from January 2021 to September 2022,and were randomly divided into control group(60 cases)and study group(60 cases)by stratified sampling method.The control group was treated with otolith reduction alone,and the study group was treated with acupuncture on the basis of the control group.Outcomes:Efficacy,TCM symptom score,recurrence rate within 6 months.Results The total effective rate of the study group was 95%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group(73.33%),P<0.05.After 2 weeks of treatment,the scores of TCM symptoms of visual rotation,head weight,chest tightness,limb weakness,nausea and vomiting in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group,P<0.05.The recurrence rate of the study group was 8.33%after 6 months of follow-up,which was significantly lower than that of the control group(33.33%),P<0.05.Conclusion Otolith resetting combined with acupuncture in the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo can improve the curative effect,improve the clinical symptoms of patients,reduce the recurrence rate of the disease,and is worth promoting.
