Tetracaine can reduce nasal pain occurred in removal of inlfation sponge after endoscopic surgery

Abstract:Objective To study the effect of 1%tetra Caine in alleviating the nasal pain occurred in removal of in-flation sponge after endoscopic surgery. Methods Inflation sponges were packed equally in bilateral nasal cavity of patients after nasal endoscopic surgery. The sponges were removed after 48 hours,Before removal,1%tetracaine was injected in one side nasal cavity(treatment group),while normal saline was injected into another nasal cavity(control group). After 15 minutes,the sponges were removed spectively. And nasal pain was scored according to the international classification standard. Results The pain in treatment group was obviously less than those in control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Injection of 1%tetra Caine solution can obviously relieve patients' pain occurred in the extraction of postoperative nasal stuffing. It is worth being used in clinics.
